Munro Tally: M1,2 T1,2

This was the one that started it all! My first Munro! We had done some lesse hill walks in the family, b ut this was the first real Munro. We were quite a big group from Edinburgh University Physical Society, staying at Firbush on the shores of Loch Tay. I can't remember much aboout it, except that I thought the ascent to Stuc a' Chroin was quite tricky. However, within a few months I was climbing in Glen Coe, and realised that these two were a fairly easy start. I still enjoy seeing them on the horizon every time I head north up the M9 from Edinburgh towards Stirling. Maybe I'll climb them again when I've completed the whole set!

The route we followed is shown on the sketch map scanned from my log book which I started a couple of years later when doing the summer MLC training. Although I have never completed the MLC assessment, I have kept my log book going, and it is my main source for the descriptions in this website.
