After a superb, but long and tiring , day on the Grey Corries, we stopped off at Fersit on our road home to climb these two Munros to the east of Loch Trieg. A fine day but overcast. Anne and Mary decided not to accompany us all the way. The ascent from Fersit was slow (we were tired!), across the moor, then up the rough north ridge of Stob Coire Sgriodain, with glimpses down to Loch Trieg to the right. From the summit, easy ups and downs across to Meall Garbh then to Chno Dearg, a broad rounded summit in contrast to Sgriodain's rocky esccarpment. We made a very rapid descent (running most of the way) down Chno Dearg's gentle northern slopes, reaching Fersit 55 minutes after leaving the summit. The only stop was to pick up an antler we found lying on the hillside. |
