We enjoyed am action-packed 5 day visit to Paris in October. Flew out and back British Airways from Manchester to Charles de Gaulle. Stayed in the Hotel Parisiana in Rue du Chabrol (5 minutes walk from Gare du nrod or Gare de l'Est). Breakfasts were excellent, and staff friendly. We visited all the standard sights - Tour Eiffel, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre, night cruise on the Seine, Musee d'Orsay, Picasso Museum, Centre George Pompidou, Musee Rodin. Spent a day at the Cite des Sciences et de l'Industrie - fascinating exhibits of Science and Tecnology - suited to all ages. Took a photo of ourselves on the Quai de Bethune (on the Ile St. Louis)! We saved lots of miney by getting 3-day Museum passes, 2-day Open Tour bus passes, and 3-day Metro passes.

Camping holiday this summer - a return visit to the North West coast of Scotland. Once again, we hit a settled spell of good weather, and not too many midges. Started at Big Sand campsite, near Gairloch in Wester Ross. As always, a friendly welcome, good facilities, and plenty of space for camping. A beautiful beach, with stunning views of the Torridon hills and out to Harris and Skye. A good big day on the hills in Glen Carron (having climbed all the nearer Munros on previous visits). Continuing north, out next stop was at Achmelvich, just north of Lochinver. The campsite is a bit cramped, but the setting makes up for it. The whole family climbed Quinag on a clear sunny day. I joined a friend to climb Ben More Assynt and Conival. Our third and final camp site was at Durness, about as far NW as you can go. Highlights were a bumpy minibus ride to Cape Wrath, and seeing puffins on the cliffs. Unfortunately, the weather broke, so the northern Munros (Ben Hope and Ben Klibreck) will need to wait for another time.
